The IC-F2000 series features a 24.5mm (0.96 in) slim depth with IP67 waterproof casing, allowing the transceiver to withstand 1m depth of water for 30 minutes. Its dust-tight construction prevents the ingress of powder dust, sand, mud, and other objects, ensuring enhanced protection against environmental elements.

Equipped with a built-in motion sensor, the IC-F2000 series can detect its position, state of motion and non-motion, and can send an emergency signal. The motion function is designed to detect if the transceiver is moving or shaking, for example, during a chase. The lone worker and man down functions are programmable, providing additional safety features.

The IC-F2000 series offers a range of selective calling and communication options, including built-in 2-Tone, 5-Tone, CTCSS, and DTCS signaling capabilities for group communication and selective calling. It is also MDC 1200 compatible, with programmable features such as PTT ID Emergency (No ACK transmission), Radio check (RX only), Stun/Revive (RX only), Transmit status messages (LCD types only), and a 100 alias table (LCD types only).

To ensure clear and audible communication in noisy environments, the transceiver is equipped with a large 36mm speaker that provides commanded 800 mW* audio. The built-in BTL amplifier doubles the audio output power, delivering loud and intelligible voice to the radio operator. For secure communication, the IC-F2000 series features a built-in inversion voice scrambler, with up to 16 selectable codes. The supplied waterproof Li-Ion battery pack, BP-279 (7.2V DC, 1485mAh), provides 14 hours* of operating time, ensuring extended usage between charges.
